Past Perfect Tence

      Form            had +                =    active voice

                    had + been +    =    passive voice

วิธีใช้  เหตุการณ์ในอดีต

            1.    เหตุการณ์ที่หนึ่งเกิดก่อนเสร็จสิ้นไปแล้ว    =    Past perfect tense

            2.    เหตุการณ์ที่สองเกิดตามมา                     =    Past simple tense

        -    He had finished his work before I arrived.

        -    The students went home after they had finished their lessons.

        -    When I reached there, all the guests had left.

        -    I didn't go to the cinema because I had already seen the film.

Past Perfect Continuous Tense

Form            had been + v. ing

เน้นการต่อเนื่อง

        When I got to the meeting, he had spoken for I hour.

        When I got to the meeting, he had been speaking for I hour.

    ข้อสำคัญ

            จะต้องใช้กับ Verb continuity of action
